Merry Christmas Everyone.

I can't believe it has been so long since I was last on here, but you know how it goes!!

I would like to share this last card of 2013 with you all. It is the one I made for my parents who are spending time with my sister and her family this year.

This card is a 8x8 cream card blank which I have matted a sheet of Kaisercraft paper to after I ran it through a embossing folder. I then fussy cut of the bottom corner from another sheet. I used a SB to cut a frame and then I printed the verse on to another sheet which I cut out and matted on to craft paper. That was added to the top right and then I added a large ribbon bow and then I added the Father Christmas cut out. The 3 little roses were added to fill the area.

Thanks for looking in today, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Been Busy

18th Birthday Cards

I have been busy this last week, what with my parents down for a few days and trying to squeeze in a couple of card orders too.

This first two are for my neighbours Grand Daughter. The dress is from them and the other twisted easel is from her parents.

This is a A5 card with a folded back front. The image and backing papers are a set I bought from NEC by Zandra. The image has 6 layers with the dress curving outwards to give it form.

Sorry this is a little blurred its hard to hover at my age lol.

This card is 7x7 to fit in a 8x8 envelope (just). I used a mix of paper and card on this and most ran through my GC. The image is a digi by Saturated Canary which I coloured in using my Promarkers. The flowers are Kaisercrafts.

Engagement Cards

My friend in work has two lovely daughters who have recently got engaged. She asked me to make them each a card and here is what I came up with.

This I made in a tag style 5x7 with plenty of mat and layering on its front. I followed a pattern for this out of a magazine.

This is A5. I used pinks as she is a pink girl. I ran both pink and cream through the GC and lifted the cream up after matting it. I made a frame to go around the sentiment as it looked bare. The pink dots are Cosmic Shimmer glue and the flowers are Kaisercraft.

Thanks for stopping by.

Funky Christmas Time.. Challenge 124

Hello there,
Well this week over at www.myshericrafts.com design team member Raquel has asked us to think out of the box and make a card or project for Christmas but NOT to use traditional colours.

I chose to make this large tag as we all need lots of these.

I started with a black tag shape and using a mixture of stamps I went to town. I embossed with white powder then cut out the tree shapes. I used gold Cosmic Shimmer Powder to bring out the flourishes and added a few gems to their ends. I stamped out the bird on lime green paper and gave him a little orange breast, I mounted him on to black then orange and used foam pads to lift him just like the trees.
I took a burnt orange Kaisercraft rose and added some SB twigs in orange and green. I then decided to do a bit of stitching in two places to draw it all in. A double ribbon at the top and to finish off I mounted it on to the same lime green paper I stamped the bird on, that way you can write on the back but also hide the ends.

Thanks for looking in this time. Please join in with us on this fun challenge.

Thanks Giving.. Challenge 123

This week over at www.myshericrafts.com  it is design team member Sandy's turn to choose the challenge for us all to complete. Sandy has asked us all to think about Thanks Giving or Fall and to make a card or project with that theme in mind.

This is what I have made for the challenge

The card is  6x6 . The paper is DCWV and I have had it since 2008 but unable to find a use for it until now. I die cut the circle from a pumpkin coloured card and then added the tag shape. The sentiment 's are stamps by Rubbernecker  as are the leaves.
To finish it off I used some ribbon, gems and string held down with button which has a leaf pattern on it.

Thanks for stopping by today, now it's your turn to make something and link up with us.

Christmas Bestie in Pink

I just love this wonderful image of the glamorus Bestie and thought it would be great to use her on a Christmas card.

This week over at www.bestiechallenge.blogspot.co.uk the challenge is to make a Christmas card using silver or pink and even better both.

The card is a 6X6 white blank then I used silver mirri card, pink Webster's pages which was embossed with Tapestry folder by Sue Wilson and inked using worn lipstick.
The image was coloured in with promarkers and mounted on 3 mats of the above papers.

I used a white flourish which arrived in the post from my dear friend and then using another SB die I cut out a strip which I mounted on white. I used a ribbon strip by Trimcraft called kitten heels to go on top.

Then I cut out several poinsetta flowers and added them along with a sentiment by Personal Impressions, a few pearls to finish off and there we have it.

I know a couple of single ladies I can send this to this Christmas who would fit this lady to a tee.

I will also be entering this card in to the www.http://mybestiesuk.blogspot.co.uk/ use two of something.  I have used 2 die cuts and two flowers oh and two different coloured pearls.

Thanks for looking in today.

Darling I'm too cute to spook....

Hello there blogger friends,

Over at www.mybestiesuk.blogspot.co.uk there is another great challenge with the chance to win a wonderful Bestie digi image or two.  This time it also includes a blog hop with yet another chance to win. You have to make a card or project keeping in mind "too cute to spook". This is what I have decided to make.

The card is a 6x6 white blank. I used a piece of lavender gingham paper straight down this time, I did some dots and dashes with lavender glitter pen around the edge. I chose this digi as she just looks like maybe she is too grown up to go out trick or treating you know that 13 year old thing!!
I coloured her in using my promarkers and cut her out using the Spellbinder hexagon die and scallop hexagon too, I cut out 2 SB leaves and after embossing I inked using dusty concord. I added some ribbon flowers I have just been given and popped them with a black leaf.
She has a black gem in her hair and the pumpkin is a button I have had for years.

Thanks for looking in today.

Bestie Challenge Background Stamp

Good morning,

Here is a card I have made for this weeks Bestie Challenge.  They would like you to make a card using a stamp as a background but add a Bestie.

I was lucky enough to come in the top 3 the week before last and win 3 digi's. This is one I chose she is so cute. I coloured her in using my Promarkers and cut her out using a SB die then matted her twice on Kaisercraft paper.

I have made my usual 6x6 card and added a sheet of Papermainia Christmas flourish paper which I ran through the GC first then inked over. I stamped out the tree from Verve "O Christmas Tree" set  and the around the edge I stamped "how lovely are thy branches" and the sentiment too, I just love this set. I added 2 card candy dots and that was that.

Thanks for looking in today.

Bestie Kids or Babies Challenge

I thought I'd join in again this week over at www.bestiechallenge.blogspot.co.uk where the challenge is make a card or project for a child or baby using a Bestie image.
I decided to use this cute little girl in her party dress ready to dive in to her cake.

I made the card a 6x6 to give me plenty of space to work on. I covered the card using some free papers in fact all the papers were from the same kit. I added the buttons, ribbon and flourishes to bring in alive. I ran the centre panel through a embossing folder to give the effect of bubbles and cut the ends using a Spellbinder boarder. I thought the flourishes looked like party streamers. I coloured her in using Pro markers. Oh also on the pom-pom and rim of her hat I used white flock, I hope
you can see it from your view.

Thanks for looking in today.

All about the night...Challenge 121

Well it is Saturday so that tells it is time for another challenge over at www.myshericrafts.com and this time design team member Charlotte has asked us to create a card or project with night time as the theme.

I came up with this one which I am thinking could be a Halloween card it just needs a sentiment somewhere.

This card is a 5x5 which I removed a strip at the side and replaced with the orange which I first ran through an embossing folder. I used the bakers twine lighten it up.

The image is by Shena Douglas which I stamped and embossed in her WOW black powder  I coloured the tree in using a pencil. Then using a sheet of paper I made the hills, then covered them up and added the sky. I added the little bushes at the bottom afterwards.

I mounted the image on the same orange as the side strip then added two thin strips which I cut using deckle edge scissors. A few dashes and dots finished it off.

Now it is your turn to create something and link up with us for a chance to become our guest designer.

Bestie Anything goes

This week over at www.bestieschallenge.blogspot.co.uk anything goes so I decided to make a Christmas card (well you need to get going about now don't you). I used the little digi with wings again as she seemed to fit my idea.

This time I made a small fold back front card (I am sure it has a name!). I used some Nancy Watts free papers along with a die cut from my Cricut machine and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.
I coloured her in using Promarkers and on her wings I used fine glitter.

Thanks for looking in today.    Sue

Oh good you can see the glitter in this one.

Nana King

A couple of months a go I made a layout of one of my Nana's so this time the layout is of my other Nana.

My Nana King is my dad's mum. You know I think she always looked the same to me. She was always cuddly and her love of cooking rubbed off on me. She made the best pastry which in turn made the best mince pies at Christmas.

This layout uses a sheet of last years Xmas paper from Kaisercraft which I distressed the edges after punching down two sides and adding a contrasting red behind.

I used the same red to make the die cut flourishes and leaves and the mats behind the tag and circle. The idea to add the ticking came from a sketch on "pagemaps" a while ago, I also made the rosette with it too. The photos are all originals and the handsome gentleman is my Grandad who I didn't get to know. That is my son in the larger photo when she lived in a nursing home.

The crown had to be added to go with her name.......

Thanks for looking in today.

I have decided to enter this in the monthly challenge over at www.merlyimpressions.co.uk

Bestie challenge with wings

This week over at www.bestieschallenge.blogspot.uk  they would like you to make a card using one of her digi's with wings. As I only have the one I decided to do her in "Fall" colours.

The card is a little 5x5 and I have used papers which came free with a magazine a while back. I added some ribbon, gems and liquid pearls to finish it off. I also used a clear glitter pen on the edges of the wings which of course show up better in your hand.

Thanks for stopping by.      Sue

My Family....

I decided to try the monthly challenge over at www.merlyimpressions.co.uk  this month.  The challenge was to make a layout using NO 4x6 standard size photo's.

My son turns 20 this October and he asked me to do him a layout using old photo's of him with his aunties and uncles and this is what I did. He chose the photos and I put it together.

The paper is from My Minds Eye and it came with the bicycle on the bottom right corner. I added all the flourishes and little kites at the top. I used up a sentiment and part of a rub on left from another Kaisercraft kit. I also added some green gems and the four brads are to attach it to my calender.

Stitching Time....challenge 120

Hello there,

This week over at www.myshericrafts.com it is my turn to host the challenge and I have chosen Stitching. I would like for you to make a project or card with stitching on it, it can be real or faux (I like to use both on my projects).

Here is what I came up with

I first made a 6x6 easel card and then using Kaisercraft "needle and thread" collection I chose the page called Hem. I cut in to it removing the image I wanted. I have cut in to it again and lifted it from the flat with 3d foam pads. I added antique lace in one corner along with buttons and a pretty pink rose. On this card I chose to faux stitch.

I hope you can find time to join in with our fun challenge this time, just link up your creation and you could win to be a Guest Designer.

Go Native....American.

Hello,
This week over at www.myshericrafts.com design team member Peachy asked us to make a card or project to celebrate Native Americans and I had just the right set of stamps to use.
The stamps are from Rubbernecker and I bought them some time ago at a show after seeing them demonstrated by Sue Wilson who owns the company.

This first card I made using the clay pots stamp and little corner design. The pots I cut two out so I could add the reeds behind. The cream back ground is made using Sue's faux leather method which is simply ripping bits of masking tape and putting them down and them inking and clear embossing over it. It is quite effective in real life.
The card is a 5x7 tent fold and the other stamp is from Verve Stamps.

Native American

Here are two other cards I made using this set of stamps. There are several more stamps that I still haven't used yet.

Thanks for stopping by today, now you have a go at making a card and linking up with us.

Secret......

Hello there,

I saw this months layout challenge over at Merly Impressions and thought I could join in with this one.

http://www.merlyimpressions.co.uk/blog/project-portfolio/scrapbooking/merly-impressions-august-challenge/

I found this photo in the attic whilst looking for photos of my son. It was taken in 1993 at a works dinner. It was a black tie affair. We look so young in this and look at all our hair!

I decided to use papers from the Kaisercraft "Miss Empire" collection. Domain for the back ground and then strips of Regent and Steampunk (both sides). For texture I ran the first two strips through embossing folders before laying them down. I also added stitching. The sketch required 3 gems or something so I found these my good friend sent me which matched the colours to a T. I also fussy cut out some flowers from Regent and added them to the top left of the page and on top of the main area in the bottom right.

This photo I hope shows the embossing on the papers.

Flying High......

Sketch AUG 5

I am a huge fan of Kaisercraft products and regularly follow their blog from down under.

Every Saturday they put out a layout sketch and this last one (31 Aug) really caught my eye to use this photo of my son on.

Here in Milton Keynes we have a indoor skydiving place and he has been eager to try it. He went along in January this year and absolutely loved it. They take a photo for you so I decided to use it on this layout.

I have had this blue/white spot paper for a while and thought it went well with the colours in the photo. I pulled a small piece of dark spot paper which I ran through a embossing folder to bring out the jumpsuit. The cut at the top left is from Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge and the silver cutout is from Paper Lace cartridge as are the other circles all other mats have been hand cut.

This page has been made to go on my 12x12 calender for September that is why the 4 small holes are in sight.

I am entering this layout in their challenge http://www.kaisercraft.com.au/blog/saturday-sketch-5-adriana-joanne/

Fall Time

Well it is that time again over at www.myshericrafts.com Design Team member Marge has asked us to make a card or project including our colours of Fall.

Here is my card using a 5x7 black card blank

I used a lovely russet apple red for the back ground and then after running a sheet of HOTP paper through my GC I matted that on to black.
The image again is a free one off the PC so thank you for that. I coloured her in using my Promarkers and used a SB die to cut her out and mat her. I used some antique lace at the bottom to tie it all together. The sentiment I printed out too. I have used a fair amount of foam pads to give each layer a lift.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you link up with us this time.

National S'Mores day !

Now I know we don't do this one but over in the US it was National S'mores day on 10th August so design team member Raquel has asked us to come up with a card or project with either chocolate or marshmallows on it.

Please pop over to www.myshericrafts.com to see what beauties the other girls have come up with.

This is my take on the challenge....

I made this card for my darling hubby for our anniversary this year. I chose to do a double twisted easel card. The card is 8inch long. I covered the base using damask paper by Kanban Crafts and the toppers are theirs too.

He loves his coffee and a slice of chocolate cake too but he is the cream in my cup lol.

Thanks for looking in today, now make your own card using chocolate or marshmallow and link it up for a chance to win.

Thanks,  Sue

Wedding Card

Hello,
Well here is a card I have been making all day! This is the third attempt.

I used Kaisercraft papers from the Porcelain Rose Collection, along with some of the collectables and a little bit of ribbon from my stash. I 3d the bird and rose in the bottom left. The corner stamp is from Clarity Stamps and to finish off I added some gems.

I have no idea of the age of the bride and groom so I hope this will be to the givers taste or I will have to set to again tomorrow lol.

Back to school

Hello again,
This week over at www.myshericrafts.com Design Team member Glenda has asked us to make a card or project to do with going back to school.
Now as my DS has just finished school for good I have no one to make one for but he dose love Harry Potter (as we all 3 do) so when I saw this free image on the PC I knew I had to use it. He thinks she looks quite cute!!

Now Glenda wanted us to include a house or bus in our project oops I sure hope she won't mind this time But if you are going to link up your design do try to add one to stand a chance of winning a DT slot.

Well enough waffling here is my card.

The card is a 6x6 and I have used a HOTP paper for the back ground and then cut out a frame using Cricut. The leaf is a birthday gift from my BF this year. As I said I found the image on the PC so can't give credit at this time but thanks. I coloured her in using Promarkers and using a SB die I matted her up. Adding the flower to match her headband.

Here is what I can imagine Ron saying when he sees her arrive lol

Thanks for looking in, hope to see your craftiness soon

Summer 1968

Good Morning,

Here is the layout I completed at the Merly Impressions crop this last Saturday. If the truth be known it was a layout I didn't start at the recent retreat.

The photo is of myself and big sister Beverley outside my Nana's bungalow (we lived just a few up from her in 65) We were always dressed liked twins for some reason!

The kit was made up using papers and collectables from the Kaisercraft "Miss Empire Collection" available from Chrissy at www.merlyimpressions.co.uk I have since added Summer of 1968 to right hand side of the bird cage. I have to say I loved making this layout it was so easy.

Here is a closer look at the frame we had to cut out.

Take a trip......

Hello again,
Over at www.myshericrafts.com design team member Charlotte asked us to come up with a project or card depicting a destination, mode of transport or reason to travel.
This time I decided to make a luggage tag for a friend who is taking a trip to Paris for her Birthday.

I started with a long tag shape cut from 300gsm black card stock 6x3 in size. I used a Rubbernecker stamp which I have had for a while and I stamped in Dusty Concord. I also used Justrite Paris stamps which my good friend gave me for my birthday last year. I lifted the tower off the page along with the Bon Voyage and two other small stamps. I also added a stick pin and 3 pearls.
The bow is made from ribbon I kept from a cake and I used all sorts of yarn for the tag tie.

Please pop over to see what everyone else has made for you to see and then join in with your own creation.

Thanks,  Sue

Nana Bishop

Hello,
Just thought I'd share this page I have just finished on my Nana Bishop. She is sadly no longer with us but so wanted to do a page on her for my son as he was very young when she passed.

I gathered these photo's from my M&D on my last visit along with some of my other Nana which is still to be finished so I will share that soon.

The larger photo shows her with her first Husband Jim Singleton on a visit to London where they of course had to feed the pigeons, she would have made that coat as she was a fabulous tailoress. The smaller photo shows her with Frank Bishop her second husband apparently at Happy Valley in Llandudno, that is me on the deckchair next to her. The two other photo's show her in the 1980's and 1990's with her smiling face so happy to be independent.

Thanks for looking in today.

Just Rite Challenge 100

Hello,

Well I have been lurking around this challenge site for quite some time and so thought it would be time to enter.
This time we have been asked to make a card with a doily on it. So here is my card.

I have chosen to make a 5x7 card. I took a piece of white card and stamped out the Fleur de Li's stamp all over from the Bon Voyage set by Just Rite stamps. Then I added two flourishes using a darker blue and worn lipstick.
I then took the doily by Woodwear and inked around using worn lipstick, I lay it down then over the centre I added the boarder stamp and some rick rack ribbon.
I used again the larger Fleur de Li's stamp which I cut out using the SB die and then I stamped the smaller frame which I hand cut.
I added a Thank You stamp which I used a SB die to cut out.
To finish it off I added 3 pearls and a printed sentiment banner.

This card is for my son's teacher/headmaster in a couple of weeks when he finishes school for good.

Thanks for looking in this time.

whats the buzz

Hi again,
This week over on www.myshericrafts.com design team member Shelby asked us all to make a card or project using the colours white, yellow and black. Now I know I thought straight away of a buzzy bee but someone else got there first so on went the thinking cap.
I have had this paper by Basic Grey for quite some time and had no idea when it would get used up but here we go.

The card is my usual 6x6 but this time in black. I ran the paper though my GC using a Sue Wilson A4 embossing folder. I used black soot around the edges. Then I added a edgeability and some black ribbon.
The image is stamped 3 times to give her some lift (so as to speak) the hat being the 3rd layer. the scallop oval is out of black glitter card. I printed out the sentiment and finished off with 2 pearls.

Please pop over to see what everyone else has been up to.

Merly Impressions first ever retreat.

Hi,
I will soon be 50 (OMG) and for my gift my DH booked me a place on the first ever Merly Impressions retreat held at Wyboston Lakes.

There were 50 ladies ready and waiting at 6pm to get cracking and we were not disappointed. The kits were wonderful, I chose the package of 2 beyond the page and 2 paper layouts. We also received an extra kit that was a A4 BTP journal for us to dress up as we fancied and a bag to with it.

I chose to start on the box first which took till 4 the next day to finish, then on to the frame and then one of the paper layouts. The other layout will have to wait now as I ran out of time.

Please find a selection of photos to show off my completed work. This layout uses papers from the lovely Porcelain Rose collection and some collectables.

This is the frame which is a beyond the page item Chrissy sells. The papers are from Flora Delight and Base Coat.

This is the box, again a BTP item Chrissy sells and the papers are the wonderful 75 Cents Collection and family rub ons.

Both the photo above and below show the front and each side of the box

This is the top of the box. I used Kaisercraft paper flowers and hinges on this. I also added some gems and perfect pearls. All the papers are layered at different heights, some distressed and some stitched too. The frame the photo is under was fussy cut and glossed up then placed on to another mat which I cut the circle out first so the photo would show through. Even though this seemed to take forever to do I am so pleased with it.

If you have chance stop on over at www.merlyimpressions.co.uk and checkout the blog. There are lots of photos of the weekend to see.

My Sheri Crafts...birthday card

Well here we go with take two of this post lol. I rather foolishly deleted my post yesterday when I was tyring to amend it and add a new one!!

This week over at www.myshericrafts.com it is make a birthday card. This will be a good one as the card can be for anyone, so please pop over there and take a peek at what the other design team members have come up with and then link your own creation. Please make them good ones as this showcases your talent and you may get picked to be a guest designer.

Here is my card. It is a 6x6 twisted easel card for a young friend.

The card was made using a  Hunkydory card kit I picked up ages ago. I covered the base of the card with one type of cardstock (you get 3 in each kit) and made the topper out of another. The butterfly's are 3d off the page and I added gems on some of the flowers. A little fru fru was added to make it even more girly and a sentiment was tilted to make a stopper.

Fathers Day Gift Bag......

Hello to all,
Well as we all know it is Fathers Day today and I am at this moment up in North Wales with mine. I showed you my card I made a few posts back but this is the gift bag I made to give him too. It will house his couple of bags of Thorntons toffee and a special bar of chocolate, all of which are favorite treats for him.

I have never made a bag before but thought I'd give it a go.
The bag is 7x5.
I used a piece of zigzag paper from a mat stack and then I took another with the bingo numbers on which I matted on to some kraft card. I wrapped a bit of string and added a button. The arrow is cut from DonJuan cartridge and I made sure it pointed at the date, I added a heart button next to it. I used the same cartridge to cut out the Dad which I put on to a tag which was matted on some green glitter paper.
I know he will like it but even more its contents lol.

Thanks for looking in.

Sweet as a Cherry.......

Hi,
Over at www.mypapercrafting.com it is digi fridaze, so please pop over to take a peek at what the design team has to show you.

Today I decided to use the sweet as a cherry digi along with the backing papers that are available.

I started by making a 6x6 easel card and covering the base in the cherry paper, I then covered the easel with the plaid paper. I used the SB hexagon to make a base for both the greeting and the digi which I cut out using the scallop circle and bloom dies. I added a button to the base to fill the gap.

This would make a lovely summer birthday card or even a label for some home made jam.

Summer Solstice MSC challenge

Hello,
This week over at www.myshericrafts.com it is my turn to pick the challenge. I had to think of a good one didn't I. So I came up with the summer solstice but I wanted to see a sunset from a summer evening or a view from your porch.
Over here we have a very talented lady called Barbara Grey who is a whizz with a brayer, I have been watching her shows for years on our Create and Craft channel but never tried it. My DH bought me a brayer for my birthday a couple of years ago(blush blush) and it has never seen the light of day but yesterday all that was about to change lol.
This is the card I came up with (looks a bit windy I know) I had no idea what to do with it so I made it in to a new home card.

The stamp I have had for years, so I plotted it down first and then covered it in a mask, placed down a mask for the sun and set to task using mountain meadow and the speedball brayer. Using a sheet of copy paper I made some hills/dunes and added a bit of bush life to their tops. The image is then matted on to green and placed on to a 5x7 blue card blank. I tied some bakers twine along the back fold and added the sentiment to a SB die cut bit of card. I also stamped in white "enjoy life's moments" but you can't see that so well in this shot.

This next picture I did first but my DH didn't like it so much, said the clouds weren't right. So I added it to a piece of black card and made a post card to post out your new address to friends and family.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you get time to try this technique some time. Pop over to the rest of the design team members blogs to see what goodies they have come up with this week.

Thanks,   Sue
