Days to Remember!

 Hello Again!

Today I have a layout for The Mad Scrapper Blog. I have been revisiting some of my very first layouts and boy were some of them plain! So I have decided to break them down, removing the precious photos and in some case embelishments and remake them. This layout is one of the first I have completed and I have to say it resembles nothing of the first LOL.

Main photo

This is our son Jonathan who is now 28! I can say he loves this new version. I am using papers, ephemera and a rub-on from the Peace and Joy collection by 49andmarket. I started by punching stars around 2 edges of cherry-splashsmoothies by Bazzill. Then I cut the Starry page down to 11inch and distressed the edges, then taking the  Tim Holtz-Stars-stencil I mixed up some gesso and acrylic paint in blue, green and red and sponged them through.

Then I put a strip of green and blue under the punched out stars to show through. Here you can see I have taken a frame from the peace-joy-ephemera-bits the bit that's missing I'll keep for again (you know how that goes!) funny how you do all that work on the paper and then you go cover it up!

This next photo shows that I have added two stars that I have cut out from peace-joy-holly and matted on to cherry-splash I have also added a spring-tree by Dusty Attic which I have embossed using a selection of powders by WoW! I took a sentiment from the ephemera pack and matted it on to green it is not stuck down yet in this photo.

So now is the best bit, placing down the photo and filling out with lots of lovely flowers and embelishments. Some are from my stash but lots are from the store. The photo is matted on to a greeny blue piece of card and then on to foam to lift it. Here you can see a couple of paper baubles with a bakers twine bow and a couple of cotton balls.

This next one shows the sentiment which I have raised and placed down. I cut a fishtail from the Holly paper to match one out of the ephemera pack and added beneath along with more stars and a heart gem. You can also see the one rub-on I have used from vintage-artistry-everyday pack

Here you can see a bit closer the small flower cluster and the spring tree. You may also spot that I have added some clear glass beads by Finnabair

On this next photo you can see the little banner I added made from the inch wide strip I cut off.

I took a Merry Christmas chipboard I have had for a while and I can't remember if it is by Dusty Attic or not but I painted it white and then embossed it using Silver Bells and Vintage Candy Cane by Wow to tie in with the tree.

This next photo shows the main cluster on the page along with a tab from the ephemera pack and some cheesecloth I tucked under the photo. I went in with some gell medium on the flowers so I could add snowy glitter. I love how all this just fitted together to make a much improved layout of my sons 2nd Christmas.

The full list of flowers and leaves are here 49-and-market Majestic-bouquet-tomatoRoyal-posies- tomatoRoyal-posies-ocean-jadeRoyal-spray-ocean-jade. I have also added Nuvo drops in Red Berry and Bright Gold. Snowy white glitter, bakers twine and sequins from Spiegelmom. Then to finish off I splattered white gesso.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed reading how I put this together today and will maybe be inspired to create your own Christmas layout. There are so many beautiful papers in this collection along with Rub-on's and Bubbles also you will find a set of stamps which have useful images on. So pop on over to themadscrapper and check out all the goodies, new stock arriving every week.

Till next time, take care.

Mocha Crazy!

 Hello!

Today I'm up on the themadscrapper.blog with a layout using a photo I have wanted to scrap with for nearly 2 years!

I was having one of those last minute look about the shops before Christmas just incase I should find a little goody I thought we may like and I felt I deserved a little treat so I called in to Hotel Chocolate where they have a little coffee shop and I decided to have myself a Mocha as I'm not fussed over hot chocolate but when it arrived I nearly fell off my seat!! I can tell you it was devine and I am sure I will try another this year. It was the strongest coffee but it didn't matter due to all the whipped chocolate cream on top.

Anyway on to the layout itself. I chose to use storyline collection by Heidi Swapp. I first gutted the Everyday paper leaving a inch boarder all around and then I cut down the Market-fresh to 11inches.
Then I took a pale green marker and drew a circle. I took out my sewing machine and using a grey thread I went around the circle twice crossing over the lines trying to make it random in appearance.

I then did something I'd seen the night before by Srappycat on YouTube I took a stencil and laid it around the circle as if the branches were fastened to it. I used the following Distress Inks adding layers peeled-paint , crushed-olivekitsch-flamingo  and worn-lipstick.

Then I took the  string-frame-set by Dusty Attic using the middle size and embossed with rangers-white embossing-powder and then I re-inked and added a tiny sprinkle of ranger-pink embossing-powder and a touch of brown by ranger. I attached the photo to it trimming close to the edge. I brushed some pink distressed ink around where it was to go and stuck in down with foam pads. I cut the flower from one of the tags and tucked it underneath along with some flowers I made using a stamp and the home-grown paper by Heidi.
I made a tiny cluster in the top right using cut-offs from the gutted other side and another flower as well as a cute sentiment stamp from my stash.

Here you can see the other cluster on the left side. This uses a coffee stamp set  which has these cute cups along with steam and topical sentiments. I paper pieced the pattern to them and added the one with foam pads. I also added a few flowers from Green-Tara in ochre and a couple of leaves from 49-and-market/flowers

Here you can see one of the 5 finnabair- clear-melange--pebbles I have used. 3 I glued to papers used so the patterns could show through.

This last photo show you other items I have added to the layout such as gold, green and red sequins also some squiggles in pink and green. I did add some glossy accents to a couple of the pink inked berries but they don't show up so well!

I hope I have inspired you to use a photo on a layout instead of leaving it on your phone like I did with this one. Thanks for stopping by today, do pop over to themadscrapper.co.uk Janine has some lush papers instock along with my personal favourites flowers! as well as many other things we couldn't do without!!

Till next time take care

Sue.
